Our collaboration began in 2016, when the paths of Daniele Besana, founder of WP-OK, and Gianpaolo Faccini, founder of Mowgli, crossed in a co-working space in Bali. Being Italian, they naturally took the opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, and projects over a pizza.

It was clear from the very beginning that an on-demand technical support service could be valuable for the agency’s growth. Since then, we have continued working together on various projects for companies of all sizes.

Delegating effectively isn’t easy: Mowgli’s experience with WP-OK

As is the case for many web agencies, it’s not always possible to predict exactly how much work will come in or what requests clients will make. When working primarily with tailored, planned strategies, agencies often face unexpected challenges in meeting client needs and to handle these, it becomes necessary to rely on external expertise.

This was Mowgli’s situation: to meet the wide-ranging requests of its clients, the agency needed to find specialists capable of solving technical problems that were often very different from one another. It was common for custom solutions to be requested, or for technical issues to arise that Mowgli’s internal team was not immediately prepared to resolve.

Initially, Mowgli tried to address these situations by looking for freelancers on Upwork, the most well-known platform for finding digital professionals. Upwork provides access to a large pool of freelancers with every type of specialization, but the quality of service can vary, and maintaining continuity is often challenging.

Specifically, hiring through Upwork presented the following challenges:

  • Difficulty in assessing a freelancer’s reliability in advance
  • A lot of time wasted selecting the right person from dozens of responses to job postings
  • Inconsistent output: everyone works differently
  • No guarantee that deadlines will be met
  • Asynchronous communication, causing delays of days and frustration

After a few negative experiences, Mowgli decided to join WP-OK’s Partner Program to rely on our team for any situation. Over the years, a relationship of mutual respect has developed, and we have continued working together to manage various international clients.

The benefits of collaborating with WP-OK, according to Mowgli

Since 2016, the year we began collaborating with Mowgli, we have supported the agency with 37 different requests. Most of the tickets were opened for the development of custom functionalities on WordPress sites by our team. Thanks to our on-demand WordPress support, Mowgli pays at the end of each month only for the hours actually spent on the various requests.

According to Gianpaolo, the main advantage of collaborating with WP-OK has been “on one hand, having specialized support that helps maintain long-term client relationships, avoiding saying ‘no’ too often, and on the other hand, having a clear understanding of costs when custom development is required.

When a development request arises, our team is able to provide an accurate cost estimate. This allows the agency to precisely calculate profit margins or potential markups. Having developers always available on Slack helps keep communication smooth and makes it possible to submit even very specific requests whenever the need arises.

One of the most complex projects for Mowgli was the Fratelli Desideri website, a startup selling meal kits created by Michelin-starred chefs. This was Mowgli’s experience:
